Managing Your Master CV Data
Your Master CV Data is the central repository of your information. Keeping this accurate and up-to-date is crucial for generating effective CVs.
How to Input and Edit Your Master CV Data
This tutorial guides you through accessing and modifying the various sections of your Master CV Data within the CV Builder.
Steps to update Master CV Data:
- Navigate to the CV Builder section of the portal.
- The main interface will display your Master CV Data sections in the center panel. These typically include:
- Resume: Enter or edit your general professional summary.
- Education: Add or modify your educational qualifications. You can type in details, edit existing entries, or delete them.
- Experience: Detail your project history. For each project, include duration, title, client, and a description of the project. You can add text or "chips" beneath each project for specific skills, technologies, or methodologies you used. This allows for free-text input.
- Skills: Select skills relevant to your profile. The system focuses on your essential skills. Rate your skill levels based on experience (e.g., "Experienced," "Very Experienced," "Expert"). Fixed intervals for years of experience are used.
- Courses: List your relevant courses and certifications.
- Languages: Add languages you speak and select your proficiency level for each.
- Industries: Assign relevant industries to your profile. This is a separate tab/section Rate your experience levels similarly to skills. You can select from a predefined list of industries.
- Custom Fields: See separate chapter below.
- Click into any section or field to add, edit, or delete information as needed.
- Changes are typically saved automatically, or a "Save" button may be present for certain actions.
! The system is designed to be intuitive. Most fields will feel familiar if you have worked with CV data before.
Working with Custom Fields in Your Profile
Custom fields provide flexibility to include information in your CV not covered by standard sections, such as motivations, specific tables of skills, or other unique requirements.
You should be in the Master CV Data editing view within the CV Builder.
TIP: Custom fields are powerful for tailoring your CVs to specific opportunities or client needs that require information in particular formats.
Steps:
- Locate the Custom Fields section within your Master CV Data editor.
- You will have options to add different types of custom fields. Initially, three types are available:
- Free Text Field: Allows you to add a block of text, similar to the resume summary. You can define a heading for this field.
- Two-Column Table: For presenting information in a simple two-column format.
- Five-Column Table: For more complex tabular data.
- Select the type of custom field you wish to add.
- Provide a heading for your custom field. This heading will appear on your generated CV.
- Enter the content for the custom field (text for the free text field, or data for the table cells).
- Save the custom field.
- When generating a CV, you can then choose to include this custom field and position it where needed.
